In 1858 Richard Esterbrook opened his shop on the American east coast and around the same time a gold rush was ending that had brought 300,000 people from all over the world to California, making San Francisco the main metropolis.
To celebrate the role of the gold rush in American history and to honor the history of Esterbrook, the Esterbrook Estie fountain pen is dressed in a new exclusive Diamondcast material: Gold Rush Frontier Green.
Esterbrook Estie is a fountain pen with a clean and vintage-inspired design characterized by the total absence of rings on the cap and small metal parts. Comfortable and balanced, this fountain pen features a spring cap system that ensures a nib that is always wet.
Among the various gradations of writing we find "Journaler" and "Scribe". The first is a particular nib handmade by the American nib master Gena Salorino. She defines it as a "medium stub nib" declaring that she wants to return a smooth stroke in everyday use with a touch of style to your writing thanks to the natural variation of stroke that distinguishes the Journaler nib.
"Scribe" is Josh Lax's New York master nib version of the Architect nib and draws inspiration from the Near East rather than the more common European Architect nibs. It is characterized by a thin vertical stroke and a wider horizontal line but it can also be used in "reverse" for an additional variation.
