A interesting (and eye catching) Willard fountain pen in black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with a medium flexible 14k Willard nib. This antique pen is in good used condition. Produced in New York, this pen appears near the quality of a Waterman 52…though a bit larger. Barrel imprints look like new, as does the chasing. Great color. Odd cap clip attachment area. Not sure why this cut out area would’ve been done. Clip moves due to this, but does not come out. Perhaps some carefully placed black resin could fix this? Cap screw on and off well and posts nicely. New ink sac installed. Lever filling system works well. Please see pictures for more details on exterior condition.
The 14k nib is one of those very flexible “wet noodle” types, but is unfortunately in need of repair. One tine has missing iridium…and though it’s been smoothed to working condition, it’s not ideal. Also, the tines need attention as it appears one was bent at some point. Could be a great nib with attention. Please see the sample writing in pictures. This pen measures approximately 5 1/2 inches (140mm) in length capped. A very nice Willard fountain pen in nice exterior condition with a great nib that needs work.
